What I like about shoes . . . Shoes are a functional item that we use every day.
They can also be a beautiful way to express ourselves and have fun.
Why can't the everyday be extra ordinary?
Perhaps I was destined to be a maker.
For many years I worked as a teacher of design and technology, but after my first shoe making workshop (with Luna Newby of Lunaboots) I was hooked. My love of design and creating, my dexterity with tools and my passion for helping people had happily and irreversibly collided.
After years of learning, I set up my workshop in 2014. I have been measuring, fitting, cutting, glueing, shaping and stitching ever since. I made the boots in this picture in 2015. They are like treasured friends: unique, comfortable and enduring!
